Spotlight on Sarahndipity

From Girdwood, Alaska, Sarahndipity is a bluegrass band that began in 2006
when, then 9 year old Sarah, decided it was time to take this family band to
the stage. They like to play a range of bluegrass and old-time tunes as
well as ones that Sarah has composed and dancing is encouraged. Sarah plays
fiddle and bass while Dad, Steve, keeps the beat with guitar. Dustin kicks
it up with the banjo and cousin Matt whips up a mandolin tune. (Matt also
plays “the mouth.”)

Sarah started playing fiddle at the age of 6 when she attended her first
Bearfoot Bluegrass Camp for Kids and hasn’t stopped. She hopes to attend
East Tennessee State University to receive a degree in Bluegrass Music.
The band has performed at several festivals and events around the state of
Alaska, as well as in local hang-outs and private events. Their first CD is
scheduled to be released in September.
